Sun Care

The use of sunscreen is increasing due to global awareness regarding the impact and damage that the sun has on unprotected skin. The Sun Care category is facing continues questions regarding the safety of its products. Some major changes are shaking the US sunscreen market., The new FDA proposed rule is questioning commonly used sunscreen actives for their safety, it also refers to new requirements for the sun protection factor (SPF) value, broad-spectrum protection and products labeling that will probably affect Europe and the rest of the world soon.

Sunscreen products are known as a challenge in terms of preservation. The unique composition and features which are inherent to sunscreens formulations such as high organic phase vs water ratio, as well as the presence of specific UV filters, introduce much complexity to the preservation process.

Based on extensive studies performed by our Innovation group, we developed SharoSUN™ – innovative preservative systems for sunscreen products.
